Book Nook

Summer’s Child

I picked this one up at Barnes & Noble from one of the employee picks.  Diane Chamberlain is a local, North Carolina author.  This book is a good read.  Basically, a young girl finds a newborn abandoned on the beach.  Her family ends up adopting the child.  Twenty some years later a local begins to dig into the story to help the girl answer questions about her birth mother.  There are a lot of secrets and if you think you’ve figured it out, at the end of the story you find that you’re wrong.  I enjoyed this book and I will definitely read Chamberlain again.  I especially liked that the story took place on the Outer Banks of NC.
